PARKING: The parking will be at Towne Meadow Elementary School lot just north of the farm. DETAILS: Riley Llamas of Carmel will hold its annual Open House October 7, 2006 from 1-6 p.m. Although many schools, scout troops, retiree groups, etc. visit throughout the year; this is the one day each year the farm is open to the general public to get the "inside scoop" about llamas. The event is free and includes parking, a self-guided tour, free popcorn and drinks, and informational video about llamas. If it’s anything like years past, thousands of visitors will study exhibits about llama grooming, nutrition, birthing, and general care. Wool exhibits will highlight one of the many uses of llamas. Visitors will see for themselves how captivating these animals are – from strutting studs to gentle, loving mothers to well trained back-packing llamas to playful, curious scampering babies. Over fifty llamas will be on display. Watching 4-Hers take llamas across an obstacle course is a popular attraction, as is walking the llamas. Polaroid photos of visitors with a llama will be taken for a nominal fee, but guests are encouraged to bring their own cameras. It’s a day we at Riley Llamas look forward to and prepare for weeks in advance. A great deal of work goes into this event, so we would like as many people as possible to be able to enjoy and learn about these lovable camel cousins. Any help with publicity for this event would be greatly appreciated. Please feel free to contact us for more information, photos, interviews.
